1861, 5¢ brown, First Design, without gum, remarkably well centered amid usual tight margins only impinging on the outer frameline at top and bottom, rich deep color on bright paper, sealed virtually unnoticeable tear at bottom and small thins at top, Extremely Fine appearance; with 2015 P.F. certificate.

A WONDERFULLY WELL CENTERED EXAMPLE OF THE 1861 5¢ FIRST DESIGN ISSUE.

Of the approximately 35 examples available, most are either off-centered or have perforations well into the central design. This is one of the few exceptionally centered examples that exhibit none of qualities.

1861, 10¢ dark green, First Design, red unobtrusive town cancel, intensely rich color and sharp impression, choice centering and margins especially for this notoriously tight margin issue, Very Fine to Extremely Fine, despite the grade of "85", this is one of the finest examples in terms of centering, color and cancel we have offered in a long time; with 2014 P.F. Graded certificate (VF-XF 85, SSV $2,300).
