Aug 31 1889, rated 1RRRR, purple cds on reverse of 1889 German 10pf postal card from Leipzig, Germany to Hawaii, matching "Pas Reclame, Unclaimed" two-line handstamp (MH 767), reverse with "Honolulu Advertised May 31" cds (MH unrecorded, 1R) and Honolulu (5.4) duplex, fancy script "Retour" framed handstamp; light horizontal crease, F.-V.F., One of only two recorded strikes of this scarce DLO cds. Meyer-Harris No. unrecorded.

Hawaii, Stmr. Iwalani, Haw'n Mail Service, May 10, 1885" (Davey 362), rarity 1R, purple strike of cds on 1¢ green (U1) entire to Lihue, Kauai, readdressed to A.E. Jacobi of Uddevalle, Sweden, this was apparently privately carried to Sweden as there are no further postal markings; light stain and small edge tear, F.-V.F.

Hawaii, Waimea, H., Dec 16, manuscript postmark (Davey 803, Gregory 1R) on cover to Lahaina, Maui, franked with manuscript canceled 1875, 2¢ brown and tied by "Post Office, Kawaihae H.I., Dec 17, 1881" transit cds (238.02), pencil docketing at left noting L. Lyons as sender, Very Fine.

The Postmasters of Waimea were Rev. Lorenzo Lyons (1858-1886) and Miss E. W. Lyons (1886-1900). Parker Ranch was headquartered nearby and the town was also site of the mission run by Lorenzo Lyons.
