Baltic States, Collection, 1918-40, housed in Scott album; with Estonia mostly used with good back-of-the-book issues, Latvia with strong mint completion and later used, airmails including imperf sets, Lithuania with strong showing of the 1918-19 printings */o and some later completion mostly mint, good back-of-the-book, and strong Memel including good section of Lithuanian Occupation issues including some airmail covers and 1923 green surcharges complete (N83-86, with Sismondo cert.); condition a bit above the norm, owner's cat $9,200.

Lot 3408 /o   

Brazil, Collection, 1840-1933, parallel mint and used collection neatly arranged in stockbook, assembled over 35 years and contains approximately 1,900 stamps, arranged as per S.G. catalog (part 20) and allows for all perforation and watermark varieties including back-of-the-book issues with Officials, Airmails, Newspapers and Postage Due issues, with Scott equivalent numbers marked on dividing sheets; commencing with a selection of nine Bullseye issues including a set of complete denominations bearing the Pernambuco shield cancel, followed by a nice showing of the "Inclinados" of 1844 including the rare used 180r with certificate, 1850 "Catseyes" complete to the 600r with a great showing of the red and yellow high values, perf issues "as is" from 10r to 600r including a very scarce used 430r yellow, thereafter the collection approaches completion with much cancel interest throughout, with 1890 Southern Cross issue arranged to show all possible perforations and compounds with the 1894 Allegoricals in similar fashion, 5 extra pages of cancels and explanation of the various types from an exhibit, thereafter a mint and used run through to 1933 allowing for all varieties; condition varied however above the norm overall, accompanied with S.G. catalog cuts throughout and a detailed Scott valuation totaling to $35,900 not taking into account much of the specialized perf & watermark varieties not listed by Scott, a truly wonderful extensively assembled collection with much material emanating from Moorhouse auctions.
