Express, Victoria V.I., printed frank on 6¢ vermilion (U87a) entire to London, England, in combination with Canada 1870, 6¢ yellow brown, small perf flaws, tied by blue straight line "For Great Britain and Ireland" two-line handstamp, manuscript "via Olympia" routing endorsement below black company frank, entered the U.S. mails with red "New York, Mar 20" exchange cds, red London (3.31) arrival cds, docketed "recd. 31/3/73"; top edge tears, a Very Fine use; with 2008 Sismondo certificate.

Wells' Moore's Flat & Eureka Express, ornate frank (Wes-001) on 3¢ pink entire to San Jose Cal., canceled by partial "Wells, Fargo & Co., Nevada, Jan 21" oval handstamp; corner tear and light soiling, F.-V.F., one of seven recorded examples of this frank that was used for only a five month period.

Wheeler, Rutherford & Co.'s Express, printed frank in banner (Haller FW11) on 1864, 3¢ pink entire to San Francisco, conjunctive use with blue "Wells, Fargo & Co. Marysville Feb. 28" oval datestamp, Very Fine and choice, ex Kramer.
Estimate    $1,000 - 1,500.

This partnership was created when Wheeler took in Rutherford as partner, this rare frank was used until Wheeler left in 1865 and Rutherford carried on (removing Wheeler's name from the woodcut frank).
