Cal., Registered, Mar 4 1916, two strikes on reverse of Pan-Pacific Expo corner card cover with magenta "Commandant, Exposition Guard" straightline handstamp to local city address, bearing 1¢ & 5¢ Pan-Pacific (401, 403) plus 8¢ Franklin (414) with "PPIE Co" perfin, all tied by two strikes of "San Francisco, Cal., Model Post Office" double-ovals (SF15-05); clear strikes of purple "Unclaimed" and "Returned to writer" handstamps; some edge wear and reduced slightly at right, F.-V.F.

This is one of a number of covers mailed the same day to men who had worked as guards at the fair. The mailing included a medal for service.
