Dupuy & Schenck, 1846-48 (1¢) black on gray, margins large to shaving frameline at bottom right, tied by red straight line "Paid" handstamp on local 1847 folded letter, with matching "Dupey & Schenck, Penny Post" two-line handstamp; stamp with sealed tear at top, otherwise Very Fine, ex Caspary, Brown; with 1999 P.F. certificate.

Metropolitan Post Office, 1852-53, 1¢ blue, cut to shape as always, tied by "Paid, W.H. Laws" boxed handstamp on cover to Poland, Me., in combination with 1851, 3¢ dull red tied by "New - York, Jan 14" cds, Very Fine, a rare combination usage of the 1¢ Metropolitan Post Office shield issue which is grossly undercataloged in Scott; with 1993 and 2007 P.F. certificates.

Pomeroy's Letter Express, 1844, 5¢ black on yellow, large margins all around, light internal creasing, cancelled by manuscript "C" on folded letter datelined "Rochester July 10. 1844" to New York City street address, ex-C. E. Chapman (his purple handstamp at center).

ONE OF LESS THAN 20 RECORDED COVERS BEARING THE SCARCE POMEROY INCOMPLETE VALUE STAMP.

This stamp comes from one of the positions on the plate with the value "20 for $1" incomplete ("$1" removed). This state of the plate was used only for printing stamps in Black on Yellow paper.

Pomeroy's Letter Express, 1844, 5¢ black on yellow, ample to large margins, light corner creasing, cancelled by red "Cd" handstamp which ties through paper on folded letter datelined "New York July 16. 1844" to Rochester N.Y., forwarded with light strike of red Rochester cds, tying stamp, and with manuscript "10" cent rating to Buffalo N.Y., Very Fine; signed by Elliot Perry on reverse.

ONE OF LESS THAN FIVE RECORDED PAIRS OF THE POMEROY 5¢ BLUE USED ON COVER, AN EXCEPTIONAL CONJUNCTIVE USE WITH HALE & CO.

The Golden sale had two other covers bearing Pomeroy 5¢ blue pairs from this correspondence to Boston, one also a conjunctive use with Hale & Co. who carried it from Albany to Boston for delivery.
