Confederacy, Montgomery Ala. Jun 7 1861, clear strike of cds on orange buff cover from the Cobb correspondence to Montgomery Ala., bearing U.S. 3¢ dull red (26) manuscript cancelled, forwarded to Athens Ga. with manuscript "Ford. 5", top edge tears and stamp torn, Fine.
Estimate    $200 - 300.

This use was mailed before the Confederate Postal Service began Jun. 1st 1861, and then forwarded to Athens Ga. afterwards with the Confederate rate of 5¢ due.

Confederacy, 1861 (Apr. 6) London, England to Richmond Va. (Independent State) via New York, blue folded letter with "London E.C., AP 6 61" origin cds and black "19 Cents" debit handstamp, carried by Cunard Line Niagara from Queenstown Apr. 7th to Boston arriving Apr. 2th,bold "Boston Br. Pkt. '24' Apr 21" debit exchange cds and blue crayon "24" cents due rating, Very Fine.
Estimate    $300 - 400.

This letter was delivered after Virginia's Secession on Apr. 17th but before admittance to the Confederacy on May 7th.
