Andorra (French), Collection, 1932-1988, mounted on album pages; virtually complete regular issues including the 1932-43 long view set, airmails complete and dues missing only the 1927-31 issues; bright fresh material throughout.

Lot 2827 /o   

Argentina, Collection, 1858-1938, parallel mint and used collection neatly arranged in stockbook, assembled over 35 years and contains approximately 2,000 stamps, arranged as per S.G. catalog (part 20) and allows for all perforation and watermark varieties including Officials and Airmail issues, with Scott equivalent numbers marked on dividing sheets; commencing with Confederation issues including strips of 9 followed by a nice showing of 28 "Escuditos" with and without accent, followed by 1864-72 Rivadavias with some 54 stamps identifying all 8 printings (see Kneitschel), thereafter a good degree of specialized completion through to 1938 including complete 1910 set both mint and used, 1892 Rivadavias, the 1899 Seated Liberty and the 1916-20 San Martin issues all assembled to fully cover watermarks and all perforation varieties; condition varies with only just a little foxing after 1911 as the collection was put together with a view to completeness, with major missing items include the 15c Rivadavia imperf (Sc. 10), 50p Revolution (Sc. 392) and also some Zeppelin green overprints, accompanied with S.G. catalog cuts throughout and a detailed Scott valuation totaling to $18,742 not taking into account much of the specialized perf & watermark varieties not listed by Scott, a truly wonderful extensively assembled collection with much material emanating from Moorhouse auctions.

Austria, Collection, 1850-1900, mostly used mounted on album pages; includes near basic completion in regular issues for the period as well as 5 full pages of cancellation study, newspaper issues with strong completion and highlights including the 1851 (6kr) yellow Mercury used (Sc. #P2, repaired at top) and other good later issues, Offices in the Turkish Empire with few first issues including mint 5sld red and completion in later issues, Lombardy-Venetia with complete basic regular issues and the rare Newspaper Tax 1858 1kr black (Sc. #PR1, cat $3,750), includes additional four full pages of cancellation study, etc.; condition a little mixed mostly confined to rare issues, otherwise above the norm overall; worth careful inspection.

Austrian Offices in the Holy Land, Austrian Levant Postmark Collection, 1859-1914, 14 covers and cards and approximately several hundreds stamps mounted and annotated on pages; starting with "Gerusalem" cds's on 1863-64 issues including red brown cancel, following Jerusalem cancels by types on the various later issues, including 1890-92 perf 11 varieties, scarce multiples, dues, section of Jaffa in similar format, Offices in Crete issues used in Jaffa, etc.; condition varies, a nice assembly for the specialist.

Danube Steam Navigation Co., Collection, 1866-67, small but valuable collection on album pages; includes a rare first issue 17k unused (rare with only a few recorded), 2nd issue 17k (no. 1A) on 1866 cover Rustschuk to Galatz (2002 Ferchenbauer cert.), 17k on 1867 cover Calfat to Brailla, 10k green, type I on Braila piece (cert.), and second example 1869 cover Sistov to Orsova; condition above the norm.
