1861, 3¢ pink, vertical pair, brilliant shade, tied by bold strike of "New-York Sep 27" duplex on orange buff cover to Newport R.I., docketed "Sept. 28th 1861, G.B.S." at upper left; bottom stamp faulty from edge placement, Fine, a rare use of a pair on cover.

1863, 2¢ black, used as revenue 1866 Oregon Stage Co. $70 receipt for full payment of toll on Bridge boarding and use of barn bearing 2¢ black (73) cancelled by manuscript "J.J.B., Augst 1, 1866" as payment of revenue tax, Very Fine.

Beus Bridge, erected in 1851 by J.J. Beu, was a toll bridge on the road from Shasta City to Tehama Cal. Miners and stagecoach stop on the way to the gold fields of Shasta, Trinity and Siskiyou.

1863, 2¢ black, two singles on separate circulars to Canada and Nova Scotia; 1864 blue printed circular with "Boston Jan 16" duplex tying, to Montreal, Canada; and 1871 (Nov. 18) printed circular with circle of wedges tying, to Halifax, "Circular" handstamp at top left, blue crayon "1" pence due rating, Very Fine.

1863, 2¢ black, single on back only of a tissue paper cover probably to France, used in combination with three revenues (R15c, R18c & R40c), all tied by three strikes of "Clifton Springs N.Y. Dec 15" and "Dec 16" cds plus two small "Paid" handstamps, red crayon "8", if over ½ oz. then rest of franking was on the front; 3¢ small piece out, Fine and very unusual, ex-Metzger.
