(Yuba) Camptonville, Cal., Jan. 15, bold strike of cds (YUB-260, R4) on light buff cover bearing pen cancelled 1¢ blue (9), deep rich color, and 3¢ dull red (11A) strip of three prepaying 10¢ rate to Swanzey N.H., docketed "C.G. Whitcomb, Youngs Hill, California" at left; small stamp flaws and some soiling, F.-V.F.

(Yuba) "Dobbins Ranch, Yuba Co., Cal., 24 Jany", manuscript postmark (YUB-510, R5) with matching "Paid 6" rating on circa 1853 cover to Ansonia Ct.; some aging, F.-V.F. and rare.
Estimate    $500 - 750.

We offered another example of the YUB-510 postmark in Sale 33 Lot 1218 that realized $920.

(Yuba) "Emerys Xing (Crossing), Cal., Febr. 2, '56", manuscript postmark (YUB-570, R5) on buff cover bearing 10¢ green, type III (15), four margins, cancelled by matching manuscript to Fairplay Wisc., accompanying correspondence letter datelined "Emerys Crossing, Jan 30th '57" may not belong, Very Fine and rare.
Estimate    $500 - 750.

The Emery's Crossing post office is known opened June 2nd, 1855 to July 15, 1858. This is the earliest recorded Emery's Crossing postmark as listed in Williams.

(Yuba) "Emerys xing, April 16th /57", manuscript postmark (YUB-570, R5) and matching "Paid 10c" rating on orange buff cover to Fairplay Wisc., original letter datelined "Emery Crossing March 31st 1857", Very Fine and choice example of this rare postmark.
Estimate    $200 - 300.

Emery's Crossing post office was open from Jun. 2nd 1855 to July 15th 1858 with only manuscript postmarks of "Emerys xing" and "Emery's Crossing" known from Feb. 2nd 1856 to Sep. 16th 1857.

(Yuba) "Foster's Bar, Cal., Apr. 18", manuscript postmark (YUB-620) with matching "6 cts" rating on cover with blue Prospecting Miners illustrated cameo design showing Panning for Gold Scene addressed to Swanzey N.H., two strikes of blue "Paid" oval handstamp (undoubtedly an Express Company marking), Very Fine.
Estimate    $1,000 - 1,500.

(Yuba) Marysville, Cal., 12½, Apr 16, integral west coast rate cds (YUB-820, R5) on folded letter to San Francisco, datelined "Long Bar, Yuba River, California, Apr 3d, 1851" with letter mentioning sending money by Tracy's Express; minor faint toning, Very Fine, a rare integral 12½ rate postmark from Marysville used for a short time between February and June of 1851.
Estimate    $200 - 300.

(Yuba) Marysville, Cal., Sep. 3, cds on orange buff Overland Mail Via Placerville and Salt Lake Randal & Co. illustrated Six-Horse Stagecoach design to Greenfield Mass., forwarded to Groton, bearing 3¢ rose (65) tied by "Greenfield Ms Sep 28" cds and additional strike at right; part of 3¢ missing, reduced slightly at right, Fine.

(Yuba) Oregon House, Cal., Dec 24, manuscript postmark (YUB-1140) at lower left corner of 1855, 10¢ Nesbitt entire to Spruce Hill, Pa., with original 1860 4-page enclosure with interesting content regarding the 1860 Presidential ElectionI was at the Election of the 6th of Nov & voted for Lincoln & Hamlin. I remained on the ground all day & electioneered for the Republicans. At my voting place Lincoln had 27 votes, Douglas 24, Breckenridge 21 & Bell 1Lincoln carries California by 632 majority over Douglas. He carries Oregon by 301 majority over BreckenridgeThe Pony Express brought the news that Lincoln was elected in six days., Very Fine, a wonderful California political letter.
