Packet Jul 28" exchange backstamp and magenta "12" credit rating, carried by Havre Line Arago from New York Jul. 28th to Harve arriving Aug. 10th, red Aachen (8.11) transit backstamp and matching "Franco" handstamp on front with blue manuscript "f 2" sbr. rating; couple flap tears, F.-V.F.

'Paid 7' Mar 29" credit exchange cds, carried by Collins Line Ericsson from New York Mar. 29th to Liverpool arriving Apr. 12th, red "Aachen Franco" framed transit and framed "Franco Preuss. / Resp. Vereins. Ausgangs. Grenze." two-line framed handstamp, manuscript "3" sbr. debit rating, indistinct blue Glarus arrival backstamp; some wear and part of flap missing, 12¢ pair affected by edge placement, F.-V.F., a scarce use from Texas.

This cover was prepaid 30¢ only for postage to the Prussian border only. The red "Franco Preuss. Resp. Vereins. Ausgangs. Grenze." framed handstamp translates to "Paid Prussian Union Members Deliver to Border" was applied by the Aachen exchange office.

1856 (Sep. 21) New Orleans La. to Zurich, Switzerland, blue printed circular bearing 1¢ blue (9) horizontal pair, large margins except in at right and bottom, tied by "New Orleans La. Sep 21" cds, light strike of blue "Printed Circular" framed handstamp, carried by Cunard Line Asia from New York Oct. 1st to Liverpool arriving Oct. 13th, red Calais (10.14) transit cds, Swiss red crayon "20" rappen due rating; small owner's handstamp bottom right, Very Fine.
Estimate    $200 - 300.

Printed circulars to Switzerland, transported directly to France, were charged 15 rappen in Switzerland, while those sent via England required 20 rappen as in this case.

Mar 26" exchange cds with matching "12" credit rating handstamp, carried by Inman Line City of Washington from New York Mar. 26th to Liverpool arriving Apr. 7th, red Aachen Franco (4.10) framed transit and magenta "fr 2" sbr rating, Baden (4.12) transit backstamp and credit restated with red crayon "6" kr., Berne (4.13) transit backstamp; 1¢ lifted and hinged in place, some cover edge faults reinforced, Fine and scarce mixed issue franking.

Cover prepaid for the 35¢ Prussian Closed Mail rate to Switzerland effective October 1, 1852 to April 30, 1863. The 12¢ credit to Prussia for 7¢ inland plus 5¢ foreign.

'Paid' Jun 15" exchange cds with magenta "22" cent credit rating, carried by Hapag Line Hammonia from New York Jun. 15th to Hamburg arriving Jun. 29th, Hamburg (6.29) backstamp with "Franco" italics handstamp and red crayon "2" rating later updated to "6", reverse with Frankfurt (6.30), Chene (7.3) and Geneva (7.3) backstamps; small stamp flaws, F.-V.F.

The 27¢ per ½ ounce rate by Bremen-Hamburg mails was effective from July 1, 1857 to September 30, 1860, when it was reduced to 19¢.
