Seabury & Johnson, 1¢ lake, watermarked USIR, showing the word "Porous" obliterated by pen, strong bold color, small paper split on reverse and a couple nibbed perfs at bottom, Fine appearance, a very rare and popular medicine issue, with only 17 examples recorded in the Aldrich census (of which 9 are reported to be faulty), ex-Schuebach.
