(Washington) Forest Grove, Oregon, three covers, first with Forest Grove, Or., 18 Nov 1860 manuscript postmark (Whittlesey 1, R 6), 1857 3¢ dull red type II tied by pen strokes, to Dayton, reduced at right, second 1861 10¢ green entire with Forest Grove, O., 1 Jan 62 manuscript postmark (Whittlesey 1, R 6), indicia uncancelled, to Massachusetts, minor corner and edge wear at left, third with Forest Grove, Oregon, Feb 15 double circle postmark (Whittlesey 2, R 4) and 1861 3¢ rose cancelled by pen strokes, to Oakland, "1865" pencil notation, F.-V.F. Group.

(Washington) Hillsborough, Wash'n. Co., Oregon, Dec 27, very large town and county cds in red with manuscript month and day and showing spelling variant of "Hillsboro" official Post Office name (Whittlesey 1, R C), on stampless folded letter (outer sheet only with no contents) with manuscript "Free" to Joseph Lane, Oregon Territory's Delegate to Congress in Washington D.C., original "1853" political letter evidently remains in the archives of the Oregon Historical Society, light file fold through postmark, Very Fine, this is the first Town and County postmark used in the West.
