The census of Queen Kapiolani stationery comprises six known with two in the Bishop Museum, one in the Archives and three in private collections.

Hawaii, Crossed Kahilis, Medcalf #1, unused 3¼" x 6" envelope with hand colored black, yellow and red Crossed Kahilis emblem, embossed Solomons & Chapman Agts., Washington, D.C. stationers imprint, Very Fine, Medcalf $750.
Estimate    $300 - 400.

It is not known who the crossed kahilis stationery was printed for. This stationery was used by King Kalakaua, Queen Kapiolani and the Chamberlain's Office. It may have been printed for the Chamberlain. It is not as old as some may think as Solomons & Chapman Agents (for Lawrences Celebrated Foreign Stationery) of Washington D.C. was not listed in the city directory until 1876.
