1851, 3¢ copper brown, type II, margins mostly large to well clear at bottom, rich distinctive color, tied by neat blue "New Bedford, Ms., Sep 19" cds on fresh 1851 folded letter sheet to Providence, R.I., Very Fine and choice, a very attractive on cover example of this scarce shade; with 2015 P.F. certificate.

The "copper brown" shade is a rich and deep color with a heavily inked impression. It resembles metallic copper and exists in 1851 printings only from plate 2 early.
