(Multiples) 1851, 3¢ orange brown, type II, block of three, positions 1R5E-2R5E/12R5E, deep rich color, tied by three strikes of circular grid cancels on light blue 1851 folded letter to New York N.Y., matching "Newport R.I. Jul 22" cds, docketed "Paid" at top right; Chase plating on front and notes on back.
Scott No. 10A    $1,250 as strip off-cover.

This is an exceptionally early use of Plate 5E on cover, used only three days after the earliest known use on July 19th 1851.

(Multiples) 1852, 3¢ dull red, type I, unused right sheet margin horizontal block of eight, clear to huge margins including 3mm sheet margin at right and showing traces of three adjoining stamps, fresh bright shade; light creases, Very Fine appearance, ex-Ishikawa.

A SCARCE LARGE UNUSED MULTIPLE OF THE 3¢ DULL RED 1852 ISSUE.

(Multiples) 1852, 3¢ dull red, type I, block of eight, pos. 62-65R4/72-75R4, three large margins with deep rich color, each canceled by circular grid cancel; light horizontal crease along bottom row, bottom left two stamps with internal tear, F.-V.F. appearance, A scarce multiple with position 62R4 showing the "Gents" instead of "Cents" error.
