Blood & Co., City Despatch, 2 Cts., well struck red double circle handstamp on bronze gilt Valentine cover addressed locally in Philadelphia; also includes a second identical Valentine envelope, this one with used in New York City with red "U.S. City Despatch Post, Feb 11" cds; later with small tear at top, otherwise Very Fine.

Blood & Co., 1854 (1¢) bronze on black, two singles, acid-tied on large envelope with "Blood's Despatch, Feb 14" double-lined cds, includes embossed Valentine with hand colored border and small mirror held in place by an ornate gold metallic wreath, F.-V.F., a very scarce Blood & Co. multiple franking.

New-York Penny Post, Feb 14, 3 O'C, red double-lined cds on folded handwritten Valentine verse with hand colored letterhead featuring Cupid's chariot being pulled by doves, Very Fine and unusual.

Swart's Post Office, Chatham Square, oval handstamp with matching "Paid" in bronze color (slight oxidizing), on large (10¼ x 8½") embossed ornamental envelope with two enclosures: a beautiful large Mansell lace Valentine with blank inside and a printed Valentine verse with a hand tinted scene of a young woman holding a dove, a mandolin by her side, the latter folded several times with some splitting, Very Fine, an Extremely Rare Usage of This Swart's Handstamp in Bronze Color and the only example we have ever seen.
