Postage Due, 1879, 50¢ Deep Brown, Special Printing, disturbed o.g., bold distinctive deep brown color and sharp proof-like impression, attractively centered amid wide margins, bright and fresh, Very Fine and choice; with 2013 P.S.E. certificate.

AMONG THE FINEST KNOWN EXAMPLES OF THE POSTAGE DUE 1879 50¢ SPECIAL PRINTING ISSUE.

It has been estimated than approximately 175 50¢ postage due special printing issues where issued. A large percentage of the known examples today are either faulty, without gum or poorly centered.

Postage Due, 1891, 50¢ Bright Claret, o.g., never hinged, virtually perfect centering and remarkably balanced margins, stunning rich radiant, Extremely Fine to Superb gem, only five examples to receive this lofty grade with none higher; with 2014 P.S.E. Graded certificate (XF-Sup 95, SMQ $4,000).

Postage Due, 1895, 3¢ Deep Claret, o.g., never hinged, perfect centering with balanced margins, deep rich color, fresh and pristine, Extremely Fine to Superb, a superb never hinged gem; with 1997 & 2001 P.F. and 2007 P.S.E. certificates, the latter Graded (XF-Sup 95, SMQ $1,400), this is the sole example in the grade 95 with two higher at the grade of 95J.
