AN REMARKABLE SOUND EXAMPLE OF THE SCARCE $60.00 "SERIES 1940" HANDSTAMPED OVERPRINT ISSUE.

This is one of the finest recorded examples of the $60.00 "SERIES 1940" handstamped overprint issue. A survey of recent auction results yields no examples of this outstanding quality in sound used condition. Most examples have faults including the example offered in the Scarsdale collection.

This rare issue is not known to exist without cut cancels or perfin cancels, the perfins on this stamp are neat and confined to a small face free area.

The Stock Transfer issues were discontinued after 1952. Only 79 were sold of the $10.00, which is the lowest reported sales total of the series.
