1862 (May 12) New York N.Y. to Yarmouth N.S., red, white and blue patriotic design showing Soldier holding Waving Flag on cover sent unpaid with black "New-York, May 12" cds, reverse with Digby (5.19) transit and Yarmouth (5.20) arrival; small tone spot, Very Fine.

With the introduction of decimal currency, the cross border rates became 10¢ for under 3,000 miles and 15¢ for over 3,000 miles.
