1853 (Dec. 5) Halifax N.S. to Murray Harbour P.E.I., cover bearing Nova Scotia 1851, 3d dark blue (3), four even margins, tied by oval grid cancel, reverse with Halifax (12.5) origin and "Prince Edward Island, DE 7, 1853" arrival cds; vertical cover crease, otherwise Very Fine.Estimate $300 - 400.
In 1853, Steamship "Rose" was sold to the Cunard Line and was replaced by the "Fairy Queen" that had been on the Bay of Fundy route. It sank in the Fall of 1853.
