1877 (Jun. 12) Melbourne, Victoria to Bridgewater, N.S., cover bearing Victoria 1873, 2d violet (135), six singles, tied strikes of "Victoria" grid cancels duplexed with "Melbourne, JE 12 77" cds, red crayon "2", via Southampton with red London Paid (7.30) transit cds, red "1½d" credit handstamp to Canada, carried by Allan Line Sarmatian to Halifax, reverse with Halifax (8.12) transit and Bridgewater (8.14) arrival cds; small stamp and cover faults, Fine.
Estimate    $300 - 400.

Prepaid at the 10d per ½ oz. rate effective April 1870 with 2d Victoria share (noted in red crayon) and 1½d Canadian share.

1877 (Dec. 26) Irvine, Scotland to Picton, Canada and missent to P.E.I., cover bearing G.B. 1877 2½d, plate 8, horizontal pair tied by "Irvine, DE 26 77" duplex, "MISSENT-TO / CH TOWN P.E.I." two-line handstamp, reverse with Charlottetown (1.9) and Pictou Ont. (1.14) arrival cds; partial flap missing, right 2½d faulty at right, F.-V.F.
Estimate    $500 - 750.

The cover is addressed to "Picton, Prince Edward Co., Canada West" and confusion arose. Prepaid 5d at two-times the 2½d per ½ oz. rate effective October 1, 1875.
