Hawaii, King Kamehameha V, Autograph Letter Signed "Kamehameha" on 7" x 4½" Royal black bordered stationery (Medcalf #4) with black "K V" crown and "Iolani Palace" imprint, latter crossed out and updated "Moiliili, 23rd August 1866" dateline, letter reads "Dear Sir, Your note has been duly received. If the Minister of the Interior knew how pressed I am for the services of the prisoners that I have, I don't think he would have ordered the men on some other work. If his work is urgent and the men is only wanted for a short time. I will try and go along without the prisoners. If his work is not urgent I should like to keep the number of prisoners for the rest of the month. yours in haste, Kamehameha" and addressed to "W.C. Parke Esqr., Marshal Hawaiian Islands"; slight fold separation, Very Fine.

Hawaii, Coronation Ceremony Royal Invitation, 1883 multicolored Royal Arms on Mantle invitation (205x146mm) in English to Miss Bishop, with original matching envelope with Royal crown flap imprint hand delivered; invitation with small hole and small crease, some cover aging and flap crease, otherwise Very Fine.

A WONDERFUL AND RARE EXAMPLE OF THE ENGLISH VERSION OF THE 1883 ROYAL INVITATION.

On February 12, 1883 one of the most grand and regal events ever witnessed in Hawaii was held at the recently completed Iolani Palace in Honolulu. Nine years to the day after his election as Mo'i, David La'amea Kamanakapu'u Mahinulani Naloiaehuokalani Lumialani Kalakaua was crowned in a majestic coronation ceremony.
