(Linn) Albany, O.T., June 28, manuscript postmark (Whittlesey 1, R A) on stampless folded letter (outer sheet only with no contents) to Iowa, 1851 10¢ green type III (badly cut left selvage copy showing the printer's imprint) cancelled by pen strokes and just tied, Very Fine.

(Linn) Brownsville, Ogn., Aug 9, manuscript postmark (Whittlesey 1, R 6) on embossed lady's cover, 1861 3¢ rose cancelled by pen strokes, to "Banac City, Boise Mines" where advertised with manuscript "adv" and forwarded to (The) Dalles, "1862" pencil notation on the back but this cover must be somewhat later since Bannock City did not have a Post Office until after the gold rush town was renamed Idaho City in 1864, minor edge wear, Very Fine.

(Marion) Champoag, Or., Jun 7, 1860, clear cds (Whittlesey 3, R 8) with purple pencil year date on 1855 10¢ green Nesbitt entire with red Wells Fargo printed frank, indicia cancelled by bold "Paid" in circular grid, to Vermont, evidently sent by mail rather than express since Champoag is not known to have had a Wells Fargo office.
Estimate    $150 - 200.

The Champoag Post Office (with "A" rather than "E" in the name) operated 1851-1864. Scarcity Index 8 in Helbock's books.

(Marion) Sublimity, Ogn., Sep 24th, 1859, manuscript postmark (Whittlesey 1, R 6) ties 1857 3¢ dull red type II also cancelled with pen strokes on cover to Oregon City, stains at left affecting the postmark and stamp, old plastic tape on the back but no bleed-through, early statehood use from a Post Office with no territorial postmarks recorded, accompanied by original 1859 letter and 1859 printed circular regarding land claim surveys, F.-V.F., the earliest known Sublimity manuscript postmark.

(Polk) Buena Vista, Oregon, two covers from the same correspondence to Dallas, first with Buena Vista, Orego., Oct 22/ 67 manuscript postmark (Whittlesey 1, R 5) and 1861 3¢ rose cancelled by pen strokes, accompanied by a letter datelined "Buena Vista, Oct 22 1867" from a woman to her son and daughter, second 1864 3¢ pink entire with Buena Vista, Oreg., Sep 21 cds (Whittlesey 2, R 4), indicia with short line cancel, "1869" pencil docket at left over the cds, both slightly reduced at left and second with small tape stain and repaired edge tears at right, F.-V.F. Pair.
