1862, 24¢ red lilac, used with 3¢ rose (65), tied by double-strike of large Boston "Paid" grid cancel on small 1862 cover to Rome, Italy, red "Boston 'Paid 24' Apr 3" exchange cds, French (4.23) entry cds and red "PD" framed handstamp, Rome arrival backstamp, French transit cds on with red "Boston, Paid 24" cds, adhesives with wonderful fresh colors, Extremely Fine, a lovely exhibition item.

'Paid 19' Sep. 15" credit cds, carried by Cunard Line Africa from Boston Sep. 16th to Queenstown arriving Sep. 25th, red London Paid (9.26) arrival cds, Extremely Fine, a beautiful usage with a gorgeous stamp and perfectly-struck markings; with 2006 P.F. certificate.

1862, 24¢ red lilac, tied by blue cork cancel with matching faint strike of "Chicago Ill. Sep. 4, 1864" double-circle datestamp on blue cover to London and forwarded within England with G.B. 1p Red tied by London duplex, missing top flap, some slight edge wear, F.-V.F., a rare and attractive usage.

Pkt., Paid, Nov 4" exchange backstamp, red manuscript "40" cent credit rating to G.B., carried by Cunard Line Scotia from New York Nov. 4th to Queenstown arriving Nov. 13th, red London Paid (11.14) transit cds and matching "1d" colonial credit handstamp, carried by P&O Line Pera from Southampton to Alexandria arriving Dec. 3rd, then by P&O Line Bengal from Suez to Galle but issues enroute and towed to Aden, then by P&O Line Behar from Galle Jan. 2nd to Hong Kong arriving Jan. 20th, blue "Hong Kong, C, JA 20, 64" transit backstamp, then P&O Ganges from Hong Kong Jan. 22nd to Shanghai arriving Jan. 27th; 5¢ slightly affected from edge placement, Very Fine.

'Paid' Oct 14" exchange cds and red "24" cent credit to G.B. handstamp, carried by Hapag Line Allemannia from New York Oct. 14th to Southampton arriving Oct. 25th, red London Paid (10.25) transit cds, then by P&O Pera from Marseilles Oct. 28th to Alexandria arriving Nov. 3rd, overland to Suez departing Nov. 4th on P&O Golconda to Galle arriving Nov. 23rd, then P&O Madras Nov. 24th to King George's Sound, South Australia arriving Dec. 12th, Adelaide (12.15) arrival cds, right 30¢ small flaws from edge placement, a Very Fine usage.

Although prepaid $1.02 for Bremen-Hamburg mails via Marseilles for a letter weighing between ¼-½ oz, it was actually sent by British mails via Marseilles as indicated by the London transit cds.
