1918, 2¢ carmine, Offset imperf, type V, bottom right corner margin block of 4, 1921 Benton Harbor, Mich. duplex cancel, full sheet margins and huge margins around showing small portions of adjacent stamps, rich brilliant color, Superb, a beautiful gem multiple; with 2003 P.F. certificate (mentions "small thin spot in bottom right margin", of which we find no trace).

1918, 2¢ carmine, Offset imperf, type VII, wavy line machine cancel, large well balanced margins, strong bright color, Extremely Fine to Superb, one of only two examples to receive this grade with only two higher, ex-Kirke; with 1977 & 2009 P.F. and 2009 P.S.E. certificates, the latter Graded (XF-Sup 95, SMQ $2,000).

1919, 1¢ gray green, Offset, perf 12½, imperf vertically, block of four, guideline at right, choice centering, o.g., o.g., light vertical crease between stamps, Extremely Fine appearance; signed H F C(olman) handstamp guarantee.

A RARE BLOCK CONTAINING TWO PAIRS OF THE 1919 1¢ OFFSET ISSUE IMPERFORATE HORIZONTALLY.

1921, 1¢ green, rotary coil waste, perf 10 x 11, imperf between, block of six with two pairs at left showing the error and two stamps at right normal, rich color, o.g., lightly hinged, top pair with internal crease, otherwise Very Fine and rare; with 1978 and 1997 P.F. certificate.

THE ONLY RECORDED IMPERF BETWEEN BLOCK THAT CONTAINS TWO OF THE LESS THAN 10 RECORDED IMPERF BETWEEN HORIZONTAL PAIRS.

We recorded only one other imperf between error block (ex-Whitman, Sirron) that was subsequently broken into two pairs after being auctioned in 2010. This is now the unique block.

1923, 1¢ green, rotary sheet waste, perf 11, Cleveland, Ohio precancel, strong color, well centered especially for this notoriously off centered sheet waste issue, Very Fine; with 2002 P.F. certificate.
Scott No. 544    $3,750 for the grade of fine.

A CHOICE USED EXAMPLE OF THIS SCARCE 1923 1¢ PERF 11 ROTARY SHEET WASTE ISSUE.

This rare sheet waste issue is the result of a small stack of 1¢ rotary sheets that were run through the perf 11x11 machine that was being used for the flat plate printings at that time. It was not discovered until 1936 when three used examples came to light.
