'7 Paid' Nov 15" integral credit cds, endorsed "Postage paid" at top, carried by Cunard Line Arabia from New York Nov. 15th to Liverpool arriving Nov. 26th, red Aachen (11.28) transit backstamp and matching "FRANCO" italicized straightline, Berlin (11.29) arrival backstamp; flap tear, Very Fine.

1854 (Dec. 2) Malta to Kingston, Mass., folded letter with "Malta Paid DE 4 1854" datestamp with red manuscript "1/9" 1s9d prepaid for all transit fees to U.S., London (12.11) transit with red manuscript "16" cents credit to U.S., carried by Collins Line Atlantic from Liverpool Dec. 18 to New York arriving Dec. 31, black "N. York Am. Pkt. '5' Dec 31" exchange cds, Very Fine, ex-Winter.
Estimate    $200 - 300.

Letter sent in closed mail bag on French steamship "Caire" to Marseille, then through France to London where the bag was opened. London sent the letter on the American steamship from Liverpool and credited the U.S. 16¢ since transit fees to the U.S. border had been prepaid.
