1861, 5¢ buff, couple small faults, used with 30¢ orange (71), each tied by circular grid cancel, matching "San Jose Cal, Feb 18 1862" cds on orange cover to Switzerland at the 35¢ Prussian Closed Mail rate, red crayon "Paid 35" rate restatement, red "N. York Am. Pkt. 'Paid' Mar 22" exchange backstamp and magenta "12" credit rating, bold "Aachen Franco" (4.5) framed transit and red ms. "2" rating, Locarno (4.8) arrival backstamp, red crayon "6" due rating; partial flap, Very Fine and scarce franking at the 35¢ PCM rate.

1861, 10¢ yellow green, well centered, tied by four-ring target cancel and red "New York 'Paid All Direct' Mar 31" exchange cds, matching "Stratham N.H. Mar 30" origin cds, endorsed "U.S. Mail via San Francisco", reverse with Hong Kong and Swatow (7.8.1868) arrival cds; reduced slightly at right, a Very Fine use at the 10¢ transpacific rate, ex-Walske; with 2012 P.F. certificate.
