1861-66 (1875 Re-issue), 5¢ brown, neat duplex cancel, choice centering amid wide margins, beautiful rich deep color, Very Fine and choice, one of the few used examples of the 672 that were issued, ex-Haas, R. Collier; with 1966, 1991 and 2009 P.F. certificates.

1861-66 (1875 Re-issue), 24¢ dark violet, New York "8" duplex cancel, exceptional centering with evenly balanced margins all around, deep rich dark violet shade, Extremely Fine and choice, a great rarity - with only twelve examples known in used condition; with 2001 & 2017 P.F. certificates, the latter Graded (XF 90, SSV $42,500).

CONSIDERED TO BE THE FINEST KNOWN EXAMPLE OF THE 1861 24¢ RE-ISSUE IN USED CONDITION.

To date, the Philatelic Foundation has expertised eleven used examples with one other example being expertised by the P.S.E. Of these twelve examples, only nine examples are known to be sound and out of these only one example has choice centering and evenly balanced margins, the example offered here.
