Nova Scotia, 1849 (Mar. 30) St. John, N.B. to Annapolis, N.S., datelined gray folded letter with red "Annapolis N.S. / Ship Letter" two-line handstamp, matching red "Annapolis N.S., AP 7 1849" backstamp, manuscript "4½" pence cy. rating including 1½d cy. ship letter fee (valid from December 5th 1842), Very Fine and choice strike.

THE EARLIEST OF ONLY FOUR RECORDED STRIKES OF THE ANNAPOLIS SHIP LETTER HANDSTAMP. THIS IS FROM A NEW FIND AND OFFERED TO AUCTION FOR THE FIRST TIME.

Of the four recorded strikes of the Annapolis Ship Letter handstamp, there is one strike in black dated January 4th 1857.
