Panama, Colombia 1892, Registration, 10c Yellow Brown on Light Buff, vertical pair with manuscript "1985" registry numbers, used with Panama 1892-96, 20c violet, horizontal pair, nat. s.e. at top, tied by purple "Colon, 20 May 1902" cds on Mallet correspondence legal size cover to Brighton, England, New York (5.27) transit backstamp and New York registry exchange label affixed, red London (6.5) arrival datestamp; wax seal stain, Fine.

Colon had a stock of Colombian registration stamps at the time of the mid-April 1902 rate increase. At first the two of the 10c registry stamps were used on covers to pay the doubled rate.

This is an early use showing the new 20c registry fee and 10c A.R. fee, which is believed to have been effective sometime in mid-April.

Bocas del Toro received a supply of new Colombian stamps in 1903 that lasted until the middle of May 1904, which provided material to be overprinted and surcharged after independence.
