Panama, 1903-04, Registration, 10c on 20c Blue on Blue, blue "4367" handstamp, used with Panama 1903-04, 5c blue with magenta "A.R." oval handstamp (H4 var.), and 1903-04 1c green and 2c rose (2) with Panama Third Overprint, 1904, 5c blue and 10c yellow (2) with Fourth Panama overprint, all tied by strikes of "Panama, 19 Apr 1904" duplex on cover front to France, New York registry exchange label affixed, French entry datestamp; minor flaws, F.-V.F., prepaid at the triple rate for 30-45 grams.
Scott No. Panama F11 + H4 var., 71, 72, 78-79    Estimate $200 - 300.

There are only three recorded on cover usages of Panama H4, this is a scarce use of Panama 78 with the H4 overprint handstamp. Late in 1901, the supply of Colombian A.R. stamps was exhausted. The 5c postage stamps were overprinted with magenta "A R" oval handstamps and used as A.R. stamps.

Panama, 1903, Registration, "10" on 20c Red with Rose "Panamá" Overprint, rose surcharge and blue "4558" handstamp, used with Panama 5c blue with "AR" oval provisional handstamp and 1c green, 2c rose pair with Third Panama Overprint and 5c with Fourth Panama Overprint, tied by "Panama 25 Abr 1904" duplexes on cover with preprinted to Paris, France, New York (5.4) transit backstamp and New York exchange label, Paris (5.12) arrival backstamp, Very Fine.

By March 30th 1904, the stock of overprinted Colombia A.R. stamps was apparently exhausted. For the next three months, regular postage stamps were used cancelled by with the same A.R. oval handstamp used prior to Independence.

Panama, 1903, Registration, 10c on 20c Blue with Second Panama Registry Overprint, blue "7332" handstamp, used on cover with Panama A.R. 5c blue (H4), 1903 2c rose (2) with Second Panama Overprint, and 1904 1c green and 5c blue with Third Panama Overprint, stamps tied by "Panama, 1 Jul 1904" duplexes on cover with printed address to Paris, France, "Registered" straightline at top left, New York (7.13) transit backstamp and New York registry exchange label, Paris (7.22) arrival backstamp, Very Fine.

Panama, 1904, Registration, 10c Orange with Handstamped "R" Provisional, large circular handstamp with manuscript "2509" registry number within, used with Panama 1904 10c orange, uncanceled on reverse of pink cover to Campello Mass., reverse with purple New Orleans (8.17.1904) transit backstamp and blue "34972" handstamp; slightly reduced at left, F.-V.F., an exceptionally rare provisional use, ex-Helme.

Bocas del Toro used a large circled "R" handstamp in magenta, black and blue on regular issue 10c values to create provisional registration stamps.

Panama, 1929, 10c Red Registration Envelope on Cream, 154x93mm, used with two 1c Balboa (197) singles and Airmail 1929, 10c orange inverted overprint (C2a) and 1930, 15c on 10c orange (C3), all tied by three strikes of purple "Agencia Postal, Panama, May 23" duplexes, First Flight cover to Ecuador (AAMC F9-5b), purple "R/Agencia Postal de Panama/Primer Servicio de Correo Aereo/Panama-Ecuador" framed registry handstamp, Guayaquil (5.29) and Quito (5.30) backstamps, Extremely Fine and attractive. Higgins and Gage No. C3.
Estimate    $300 - 400.

Only a handful of the covers on this flight received the commemorative registry cachet.

Panama, Colombian Registration Stamps, 1884-1903, group of 26 covers or fronts including: 1884 use of F8 and #119 on portion of cover to Spain; 1889 use of F11 and Panama #18 to New York City; 1890 use of F10 with Panama #11 to New York City, 1894 use of F12 and H2 with Panama #14 (faulty, one of only three known on cover) on Mallet correspondence cover to England, this is also the only known 1887-88 A.R. use; 1894 use of F12 with Panama #12 on Mallet correspondence cover to England; 1895 Colombia F12 + 15-17, 19 on Mallett correspondence use to England; 1896 use of Colombia F12 + H2, Panama 18 on cover to Mobile Ala.; 1897 use of F12 & H2 plus #18, 20 on cover to San Francisco; 1899 use of F11 along with Panama #15-18 to France; 1898 use of Colombia F11 + H2, Panama 15 [3], 16, 17 on cover to Chicago; 1898 use of Colombia F12 + Panama 18 (2) to London, 1900 use of F11 with Panama #18 (2) to London; 1901 use of F11 and Panama #18 to Switzerland; 1903 F13 & H3 on cover with #19 to Italy; and 1903 Aug. 24th use of F13 and Panama #19 to Italy, which is possibly the latest use prior to Independence; some mixed condition.

Panama, Registration Stamps, 1884-1903, group of 41 covers including a few fronts, better includes 1900 Mar. 14th Provisional use with #79 cancelled by large "R" handstamp on telegraph cover front to Barranquilla; 1901 use of F4 and #18 to Battle Creek Mich., 1903 Nov. 23rd use of F6 and H9 plus #53 pair (scraped), 54-55 on Mallet correspondence cover to England; two F3 plus Columbia #16 (5) usages from the Luria correspondence to Germany, 1903 use of F7 (torn) with #55 to Italy; four Lupi F8 & H10 covers; 1904 use of F8 and #54 pair on mourning cover to Cartagena; three 1904 uses of F4 with #54 to New York City; several F11 usages including 1904 use of F11 with #79 and 80 pair on Mallet cover to England, F17 + 78 with/A.R. and 79 to Boston Mass, and 17 usages of F27 with various frankings including H22; some mixed condition, F.-V.F., A wonderful basis for further expansion.
