Australia, 1890 Buckingham, England to Redfern, N.S.W., cover franked with G.B. 2½d QV (S.G. 201) tied by duplex postmark, purple boxed "Deficient Postage - 1½, Fine 4d; 5½" and "Advertised, Unclaimed" handstamps, reverse with Redfern cds's and The Largest Remainders of the NSW Docket System to Have Survived, accompanied by the original G.B. Return Letter Office notice envelope when cover was returned, Very Fine.

Lot 1702    

Australia, 1890 Melbourne to Prahan, Victoria, 1d printed private order corner card entire canceled by "Melbourne, Oc 18, 90" duplex, redirected to Mittagong via NSW Traveling Post Office with bold "More To Pay 2d" oval handstamp, redirected again to Sydney where it received a green postage due docket on reverse and blue crayon "2d" and "461" docket number on front, Very Fine, a late usage official the NSW docket system as postage due issue replaced these dockets in January 1891.
Estimate    $400 - 600.

THE ONLY RECORDED DOCKET REMNANT ON GREEN PAPER - ALL OTHERS HAVE BEEN RECORDED ON YELLOW PAPER.

Australia, 1894 Adelaide, South Australia to Cincinnati, O., official Post Office and Telegraph Dept. cover franked with South Australia Official 1891, 2½d on 4d deep green tied by "GPO Adelaide, No 16, 94" duplex postmark, Very Fine, an official letter which no doubt was for return or more to pay letter.

Australia, 1900 Calcutta, India Forwarded to Melbourne, locally addressed cover franked with India 1a plum (S.G. 89) tied by indistinct cds, forwarded to Melbourne with oval "T3d" handstamp, redirected to Newcastle and back then returned with "Unclaimed At Melbourne" boxed and "Not Known By Letter Carrier, Melbourne"oval handstamps, numerous transit backstamps, Very Fine.
Estimate    $150 - 200.

Australia, 1907 Leicester, England Round-The-World Via Sydney, New South Wales, oversized cover franked with G.B. 4½d QV issue tied by origin cds's to Sydney, readdressed to Nelson, British Columbia and franked with N.S.W. 1888, 4d brown + 1891, 3d green + 1899, 2½d dark blue diagonally bisected, 4d & 3d tied by "Registered, Sydney N.S.W., Ju 10, 07" cds, received in Nelson, B.C. with Canada 1906 5¢ Postage Due tied by Nelson postmark, readdressed again back to Leicester via New York with Canada 1898, 7¢ olive yellow + 2¢ Map + 1897, 2¢ Jubilee, London etiquette and appropriate transit backstamps; cover tear at top, still Very Fine for this.

1914 Gayndah, Queensland to Switzerland, commercial cover with KGV 1d red only, "30, CTMS, T" handstamp and large "PASSED BY CENSOR." handstamp in violet on the reverse, Swiss Postage Due 30c affixed, cover readdessed and forwarded to Holland with "ANNULE" handstamp applied over Swiss due, Dutch 15c due tied by cds on arrival, Very Fine.

Australia, 1919 Sydney to Badu Island, Queensland, cover franked with 1d KGV + 1d KGV diagonal bisect tied by bold "Sydney, 22 Fe, 19" cds's, with Postage Due 1d tied by "Thursday Island, Queensland, 24 Mr, 19" cds with second strike on reverse, matching "More to Pay, 1d" circular handstamp, Very Fine, a rare illegal bisect usage not accepted by the Thursday Island postal authorities.
