Mexico, 1856, First Issue, 4r red, Mazatlan, in combination with 1856, First Issue, 2r green, Mazatlan on 1860 folded letter to Durango paying the 6 reales rate for 1½ ounces traveling over 16 leagues (40 miles, 2nd tariff), tied by neat Mazatlan boxed date stamp (Schatzkes 739); cover file folds, Very Fine.

Mexico, 1856, First Issue, 4r red, bisect, diagonal bisect, Mazatlan, upper left portion of stamp showing full district overprint, tied by neat mute "0" handstamp with matching Mazatlan boxed date stamp below (Schatzkes 742 & 739), on fresh 1861 folded letter sheet to Durango, Very Fine and choice, the last shipment of 2 reales stamps was on 14 Sept 1858, so over 2 years later the local supply of 2 reales had run out.

Mexico, 1856, First Issue, 8r red lilac, without district overprint (Mazatlan), ample to mostly large margins, tied by Mazatlan boxed date stamp (Schatzkes 739) on 1860 folded letter sheet to Durango paying the 1¾ ounce rate traveling over 16 leagues (40 miles, 2nd tariff); some light cover tone spots, otherwise Very Fine, a rare high value usage from Mazatlan, the lack of overprint on Mazatlan stamp is highly unusual.
