Mexico, 1867, Gothic "Mexico", 4r red on white paper, light town cancel, margins large to just shaving at left, bright color, small thin, F.-V.F. appearance, one of the rarest stamps of Mexico, only seven in used condition are recorded and several have faults, this stamp happened almost by accident when the yellow paper (Scott #38) ran out and 1-4 sheets of white paper were used to complete the last printing in 1868, missing in most great classic Mexico collections; with 1984 and 2007 M.E.P.S.I. certificates.Scott No. 39 $3,250.

During the Provisional period no 8 reales stamps were printed and the few leftovers from 1861 were quickly used up accounting for the rarity of unused.
