France, Specialized Napoleon and Ceres Issue Collection, 1849-1940, extensive well formed collection neatly mounted and annotated on exhibit pages, with definitive issues to the 1932-41 Peace issues; starting with a section of twenty 1780-1860 stampless covers including rare 1836 Parish Chamber to Wurttemberg with tax code and red "PD" handstamp, 1849-50 Ceres issue starting with 10c-15c issues in shades, 20c-40c issues well represented with shades and paper variety, including 20c & 25c on cover usages and mint, 40c-1fr values used in shades, 1852 Presidency issues with shades and on cover usages, 1853-60 Napoleon Empire issues including 1c shades mint and used, 5c with shades and multiples including on cover, 10c similar including many shades with a range of postmarks including anchor lozenge, on cover including combination to Germany, etc., extensive 20c section with cancel study, multiples, on cover usages, greenish paper including on cover, private perf off cover, etc., 40c with shades and postmarks including anchor, strip of four on cover to Madrid, combinations on piece, 80c with shades and on cover, 1fr represented by a large margin single and a pair used, 1862-71 perf'd issue in similar fashion including 1c mint shades and a mint block of six, 5c with 25c Ceres combination franking, 20c including Mexico "CEM A" postmark, 80c with strip and block of 4 as well as covers including paquet, 1863-70 Napoleon Laureate issues with mint issues to the 80c with additional shades, 5fr used in shades, then a cancel study of the 1c-4c values including newspaper overprinting, 1c & 4c combination with 20c Ceres issue to Germany, following issues with shade, postmark and on cover including usages to Switzerland, 80c used block of six, section of four Ballon Monte covers including usage to England, 1870-71 Bordeaux issue with mint up ti the 20c value and additional used completing the issues with shades, on cover highlighted by a 1c strip of five in combination with 20c Ceres perf's issue and a three color franking on piece (both with certs), later 1870-75 Ceres perf'd again with mint including additional shades and used, on cover including 20c Alsace-Lorraine issue combination frankings and German forwarding usage with Germany 2g stamp, 3-color franking bearing a 2c strip of 3 & 5, 5c+25c pairs on cover to Stockholm, 10c bister & rose tete-beche pair used (with Calves cert.), 80c strip + 10c Napoleon pair on piece with "5104" Shanghai cancels, etc., later definitive issues (1876 Sage to Peace issues) mint with the occasional cover and includes scarce Sage type I issues as well and later completion with additional shades, 1925 Paris Expo & 1927 Strasbourg souvenir sheets present, etc.; a wonderful collection with condition well above the norm throughout including many certificates for better items, a must see to truly appreciate.

France, Essay & Trial Color Collection, 1849-76, approximately 240 emissions on pages; starting with 10 Ceres trial colors in various colors and papers, following essays including 1850 Meillet et Pichot 20c Ceres essays including block on moire paper and 10c+20c Morel essays used on piece, large section of 1853 Napoleon trial colors including numerous multiples, double prints, etc., 1863 Napoleon issue trial colors, 1866 Renard envelopes essays, 1869 Prince portrait essays including die proofs on blue and black, other essay type items including fantasy; interesting and scarce group.

France Paris Star Cancellations and Ancillary Postal Markings on the Classic Issues of France, 1852-1876, six frame exhibition collection well written up on pages, including approximately 130 covers and cards and hundreds of stamps of the period; starting with an introduction and a study of the Paris star cancel with an early 1852 cover usage followed by several cover to the U.S. and England, various other cancellation of the period shown including dotted, grid and large square dotted rollers, experimental 36 large square dot cancel on cover to Austria, followed by the various issues noting type I & II star cancels, the 39 Bureau numeral stars represented on the perf'd Empire and Laureated issues then reiterated on various issues inter dispersed with on cover usages including 3-color franking to Berlin, Prussia, 5fr Laureated with six off cover examples and on a three color franking registered cover, section of the hollow star cancels, similar representation of the following Ceres issue including Ballon Monte and foreign destination usages including 40c+80c pair usage to Veracruz, Mexico and a 1874 usage to Guadalajara, Mexico, section of each bureau cancellation on covers with highlights including 1867 cover to Melbourne, Australia, 1874 Monroe forwarding agent covers, 1872 & 1873 usages to San Francisco, Cal. and a 1864 folded letter to Mexico City, Ballon Monte cover to Switzerland and ending the era with 1876 Ceres combination registered cover to Boston, Mass (official end of the star cancel) and an off cover next (first) day; a fascinating collection with condition well above the norm.
