California Penny Post Co., 1855-59, 7¢ Black, impressed on U.S. 3¢ envelope (No. U10), on fresh 1853, 3¢ Nesbitt entire with San Francisco pre-printed address and letter directive alongside showing error in "Daguerreotypes" variety, canceled by "Sacramento City, Cal., Apr 4" cds, Extremely Fine, ex-Lichtenstein and Golden; with 2000 P.F. certificate (as a 34LU15A).

There are two known examples of this frank with similar address and directive printing mailed on the same day in Sacramento. Another example used from San Jose has a different address form and directive.

California Penny Post Co., 1855-59, 7¢ Black on Buff, printed frank on buff cover with uncancelled 1851 3¢ dull red (trivial wrinkle), origin unknown but to San Francisco "Cor[ner] Wash + East, on board Store Ship", "Pacific Express Co./San Francisco Jun 30" blue-green double circle handstamp at left so evidently delivered by Pacific, Very Fine.
Scott No. 34LU11    Estimate $3,000 - 4,000.

A rare of example of the Penny Post 7¢ fee paying for "transmitting by express letters received after the mails are closed" instead of the more usual "conveying a letter to the P.O. in one city and delivering the same in another".

Goodwin who was the proprietor of the California Penny Post; upper left corner nick, otherwise Very Fine, ex-Dale-Lichtenstein.
