1857, 10¢ green, type IV, pos. 64L1, recut at top and bottom, rich color, tied by "San Francisco, Cal, May 20, 1858" cds on 10¢ green (U18) buff entire to New Haven Conn.; light staining and wear, Fine and rare double-rate use.

1859, 10¢ green, type V, two pairs, each cancelled by NYFM open grid cancel (Kirke 60-06-30-GR), used with 5¢ brown (30A), nat. s.e. at left, cancelled by magenta squiggle with matching "24" credit to G.B., red "New York. Am. Pkt. Feb 9" exchange cds, endorsed "Via Marseilles", red London Paid (2.21.61) transit cds and matching "1d" colonial credit handstamp, indistinct Hong Kong (4.11) arrival cds, F.-V.F. and attractive use at the 45¢ British Mail rate via Marseilles., ex-Skinner.

1859, 10¢ green, type V, trimmed perfs at left, used with 5¢ orange brown (30), each cancelled by stroke and tied by "Richmond Va., Dec 22, 1860" cds to Paris, France, red "New York 'Paid 12' Dec 25" exchange cds, Calais (1.8) entry cds and Paris (1.8) arrival backstamp, red "Trouve a la Boite" (Found in the Box) framed handstamp, forwarded to Florence, Italy with France 40c orange tied by two strikes of diamond lozenge cancel, Paris (1.8) cds and small red "PD" framed handstamp, reverse with Florence (1.11) arrival backstamp and blue "Emanuelle Fenzi e Ci., Firenze" double-oval; flap mend, Very Fine and attractive forwarded use.

1859, 10¢ green, type V, tied by two-line "Steam Ship" handstamp on cover to Wilmington, O., manuscript "Due 10" alongside; cover reduced at left, Very Fine, from the well-known Rombach correspondence, originating in California, postage for a steamship letter traveling from Chagres or Panama City to New York, via Havana, was 20 cents as the distance was determined to be in excess of 2,500 miles; with 2011 P.F. certificate.
