1863, 2¢ black, two singles, used with 10¢ green (68) horizontal pair, each cancelled or tied by blue grids, matching "Johnstown Centre Wis., Jul 23" balloon-style cds to Scotland at the 24¢ treaty rate, scarce Chicago "3 Cents" exchange credit handstamp, "Glasgow Packet, Paid, AU 8, 1866" transit handstamp, Invernshire arrival backstamp; partial flap, some soiling and small mend, Fine and scarce franking for the 24¢ treaty rate via the Chicago exchange office.

1863, 2¢ black, horizontal bisect, used as part of 3¢ rate, tied by target cancels on small narrow cover from Lebanon Mo. to St. Josephs Mo., matching indistinct cds, original enclosure datelined "Lebanon Jan. 12th 1868"; reduced slightly at right, some soiling, Fine, signed in pencil "Guaranteed, J.M. Bartels, Feb. 24, 1930" on reverse.

Aug 25" cds, red London (9.6) transit backstamp and oval "GB/40c" accounting handstamp, "Paid-Only / To England" two-line handstamp, black Calais (9.7) transit cds and "20" decimes due rating, manuscript "2" top left indicating double-weight, partial red Palermo arrival backstamp; cover and 15¢ strip faults, Fine and interesting use, ex-Ainsworth.

This cover originally overpaid the 42¢ French mail rate via England, but was found to be overweight at London and sent unpaid from there.
