Oct 3" duplex on 3¢ Post Office (UO7) lemon entire to New York N.Y., endorsed "International" at top left, "New-York Rec'd, Oct 6 79" arrival backstamp; small edge tear at right, otherwise Very Fine and nice uprated triple-rate letter use, ex-Ackerman.

Post Office Dept., 1873, 6¢ black, horizontal pair, used with 1¢ Post Office (O47) and 3¢ green (147), all tied by matching cork cancels on legal-size Third Assistant Postmaster General official business envelope to New York City, matching "Wash'n. D.C., Registered, Feb 23" cds; some soiling, otherwise Very Fine.

This envelope originally contained an order of special printing stamps. The purchaser sent in postage of only 3¢, and the Post Office Department added the Departmental stamps for double the 3¢ domestic rate plus 10¢ registry fee.
