Mexico, (Jalapa) Jalapa, red box datestamp (YB JA7 - 4 points) on 1837 folded letter addressed to M. Burrough at the U.S. Consul in Vera Cruz who played an important diplomatic role in US-Mexico relations, fresh and Very Fine, the usage of this Jalapa date stamp is two years earlier than recorded in Yag & Bash.
Estimate    $500 - 750.

Mexico, (Mazatlan) Culiacan, group of five folded letters; includes straight line postmark (YB MZ 46) in red and black each with "3" rate handstamp, bold oval postmark in red (MZ 47) with "3" rate handstamp, and later fancy oval date stamp in red (YB MZ50) on two folded letters with "3" and "4" rate handstamps, Very Fine overall.

Mexico, (Mazatlan) Mazatlan, large red cds (YB MZ4) on four folded letters; three with separate "2", "4" & "6" reales rate handstamps, fourth with matching "Franco" wreath handstamp (MZ6A) and "2" rate handstamp on reverse; all select strikes, Very Fine and choice, the last being a very scarce handstamp combination.

Mexico, (Mazatlan) Mazatlan Posted in San Sebastian (Guadalajara), folded letter to Durango docketed from Mazatlan in 1847, carried out-of-the-mails and posted with red straight line "V S Sebastian" postmark (YB GD221), manuscript and red handstamp "2" reales rate marks, Very Fine, San Sebastian is closer to Durango but still at the bottom of the mountain range; signed Bash.

Mexico, (Mazatlan) Mazatlan (Puerto De), boxed postmark (YB MZ 2) on five folded letters; sharp strike in an unusual deep red on 1834 folded letter sheet to Tepic (four years earlier than listed in Yag & Bash), later 1839 strike in the common red, in brownish black, and in black with 2 rate handstamp on two folded letters, one with unlisted "Diciembre 12" straight line date stamp, Very Fine.

Mexico, Chihuahua Prestamp Cover Group, of 10 folded letters; marking include Parral (YB CH102) in red and blue, Jesus Maria y Jose (CH80) in red, 1843 Chihuahua (CH4), Rosales (CH120), Bartolome (CH11) in red, brown Conchos (CH45) and two different Guadalupe y Calvo (CH61 and unlisted), accompanied by two mint 1883 4c unoverprinted entires, F.-V.F. or better.
