Lot 952    

Mexico, 1895, 15c bright blue, in combination with 1895, 5c ultramarine, horizontal pair tied together with the rare Maravatio overprint, on reverse of 1896 registered cover to Cassel, Germany, canceled by Tajimaroa oval handstamps, with appropriate etiquettes and transit markings, Very Fine, by this time the system of district overprints was long gone, for an unknown reason this little town used the district overprint on Mulitas stamps, this is the last example of the old overprints from the classic era used on Mexico stamps, probably only 4-5 covers exist.

Mexico, 1895, 15c bright blue, vertical pair, natural s.e.'s, in combination with 1895, 5c ultramarine on registered cover to Stockholm, Sweden, tied by "Mexico, Apr 17, 95" cds's, Mexico and New York etiquettes, Very Fine, one of the few covers known to Scandinavia.

Mexico, 1914 Culiacan Provisional Overprints, two rare covers, one with overprinted 1910 1c (Scott 310) plus 4c Transitorio, other with overprinted 1910 5c (314) used with 1c Denver and 4c Transitorio, both are small mourning covers, Very Fine and attractive. Follansbee No. Culiacan 3, 7.

Mexico, 1914, 15c gray blue & claret, Sinaloa provisional overprint, tied by purple "Lista, Concordia, Nov 3, 1914" cds on registered corner card cover to Mexico, receiving backstamp, Very Fine and attractive, a rare usage from Concordia, the only known Concordia with this handstamp used for canceling purposes.

Mexico, 1914, "GCM" violet overprint on 5c orange, tied by "Mazatlan, 9 Mar, 1915" cds on cover to warrant officer aboard the ship Benito Juarez in Amapala, Honduras, unclaimed and returned with numerous routing backstamps including Salina Cruz (Oaxaca), Tapachula (Chiapas), Veracruz, Amapala, then Salina Cruz, Acapulco, Manzanillo and Mazatlan; few small stamp flaws from overlapping cover at top, cover opened on sides for display, F.-V.F., ex-Schimmer.
