Wells, Fargo & Co., Colton, Cal., January 23, 1894, purple oval date stamp (type 16-02) on 1887, 2¢ green entire to Los Angeles, printed frank (WFE-060) at top, Wells, Fargo & Co. receiving cds on reverse; reduced at left, F.-V.F., extremely rare and believed to be unique.
Estimate    $200 - 300.

Colton was a small railroad station located south of the town of San Bernardino on the Union Pacific Railroad line. Two different types of hands stamps are known from this location. Both are unlisted in Leutzinger and both are considered unique.

Wells, Fargo & Co., Coronado, Cal., purple oval express handstamp with "G.W. McKenzie" agent marking on 1887, 2¢ green entire from Mokelumne Hill to San Diego Cal., purple "F.E. Blaisdell, M.D., Mokelumne Hill" return address handstamp, printed black Wells Fargo paid frank, reverse with "Charges Accounted For In" handstamp; reduced slightly at right, Very Fine.

Incoming From San Francisco, 1850-80's, group of six entires; including one double U.S. 1864, 3¢ pink entire paste-up usage to the "Cottonwood & Richfield Wagon Road" in Cariboo, three advertising usages including shaded ad, printed (Castle Grocers) and handstamp, two with "Collect" handstamps; some edge wear on shaded ad, generally Very Fine.

Wells Fargo & Co., Oceanside, Cal., purple oval handstamp cancels 2¢ green entire to San Diego Cal., printed black Wells Fargo paid frank; reduced slightly at right, Very Fine, this handstamp is believed to be one of two known, Oceanside was a small ocean side railroad station which is located just south of Camp Pendleton.

Wells Fargo & Co., Paid 50 Cts., black surcharge on company frank, on 1853, 3¢ Nesbitt entire to San Francisco, cal., canceled by blue oval "Wells, Fargo & Co., Stockton" date stamp, Very Fine, a very rare example of the "Paid 50 Cts." surcharge, apparently a few of these were printed for carriage from remote mining areas in the Sierras out of Stockton, ex-Dale-Lichtenstein.
Estimate    $750 - 1,000.
