THE ONLY RECORDED EXAMPLE OF THIS UNLISTED D.W. HARRIER'S EXPRESS ORNATE FRAMED FRANK.

Operating from a base in Nevada City, Harrier's connected with Wells Fargo at that location. D.W. Harrier used his express to serve the mining camps between Nevada City, Moore's Flat and North Bloomfield.

Hogan & Co., North San Juan and Humbug Express, frank with fancy floral frame on 3¢ green (U84) cream entire cancelled by conjunctive "Wells Fargo & Co., North San Juan, Mar 1" oval datestamp in blue to New York N.Y., entered mails with blue "North San Juan, Cal., Mar 1" cds; flap missing; upper left corner stain, Very Fine, WC2181, One of only 5 recorded used examples of this rare frank., ex Dale-Lichtenstein.

William Hogan operated from the Nation Hotel in North San Juan Cal. From this location the express ran into the surrounding Humbug Mining District. He ran a route from North San Juan to Cherokee to Columbia Hill/North Columbia to Lake City to Humbug/North Bloomfield and back to San Juan. This express was a feeder route for Wells Fargo connecting at North San Juan.
