Jul 24, 3PM, clear strike of cds duplexed with split cork cancel tying 2¢ vermilion (178) and 3¢ green (158) on orange cover to Paris, France, red "New York, Jul 25" exchange cds, Paris (8.7) arrival cds; 2¢ small faults, top edge repair, Fine appearance, scarce use abroad.

Aug 4, 9AM, cds duplexed with quartered rectangle cancels 3¢ red (U218) Centennial entire with blue illustrated Shepherd & Lloyd Hardware Specialties showing wheel barrow to Taunton Mass.; small edge tear not mentioned, Very Fine and rare red Centennial entire used from the Expo; with 2016 P.F. certificate.
Bomar No. P76-01    Estimate $750 - 1,000.

According to the latest edition of Bomar, there are only 13 recorded 3¢ red Centennial entire used from the exposition (including one front). The example offered here is unusual with the illustrated advertising.

Bain, Agt, Philadelphia" oval backstamp, also includes purple part-printed Centennial enclosure with typed greeting and closing not original to this entire; reduced at left, otherwise Very Fine.

1876 Centennial Exposition, balance of collection comprising 8 covers used at expo plus 3 view cards and two tickets, noted includes P76-01 duplex ties #158 on American Tubular Iron and Steel Assoc. illustrated ad cover; P76-01 duplex ties #147 on purple United States Centennial Commission corner card cover; P76-01 on U219 with Remington typewriter address, P76-02 choice strike on #158 cover, P76-02 Sep. 2nd cds on U219 and same but fake strike in magenta on 3¢ Banknote (2016 PFC as genuine), and P76-02 on #178 pair on double-rate local cover, etc.; some faults, F.-V.F. and interesting collection.
