(Alaska) Wrangell, Alaska, Feb 23, 1909, clear strikes of duplex tie #300, 306, 319F, 319Fj on registered cover to Austria, New York (3.6) backstamps and New York registry label (FX-NY1a) affixed, Austrian (6.19) arrival backstamp, Very Fine.

Lot 61    

(Arizona) Agency Papago Indians, Official Business, black on green label on folio sent privately by Papago Indian agent Dr. Rueben A. Wilbur (1871-74) between Tucson and Sells, red manuscript "Retained" endorsement and "Suspensions and Clearances" docketing on side, Very Fine, one of three official private mail envelopes known, Dr. Wilbur created these special labels modeled after the Wells Fargo Express labels.

(Arizona) Tubac, straight line postmark (Meyers type 2) on 1¢ postal card to Tucson, A.T., reverse with interesting message…"Please call at P.A. & Co. stage office and receive $4.00." referring to the Pedro Aguirre & Co. stage and express office, Very Fine, this being the only known example of the Tubac straight line postmark.

Lot 63    

(Colorado) "South Side, Co T., Apr 28", manuscript postmark cancels 1874, 3¢ green (U159) entire to West Las Animas Col., slightly rough opening at top, Very Fine and exceptionally rare, Scarcity R8.
Estimate    $500 - 750.

The South Side post office was open 1869-1877, located in Pueblo and later Bent County. Although not year dated, the 3¢ entire was issued in 1874 and the postmaster appears to have indicated territory with a "T". We have not previously offered a South Side cover.

(Connecticut) New-London Ct, Feb 21, sharp red cds with matching "SHIP" handstamp and red manuscript "12" rating on folded letter from Le Havre, France to Providence R.I., endorsed "pr Brig Eagle, Cooke" at bottom left, Very Fine and scarce port of entry.

(District of Columbia) Washington, D.C., Nov 15, 81, Leavitt Machine Cancel, experimental Type X1A, tying 1881, 1¢ gray blue on cover with characteristic gripper marks visible from the needle feed system used on these experimentals, Very Fine.
