(Flag) 34-Star American Flag, red and blue allover design on cover addressed to "Mrs Jay, Jay Homestead, Katonah, New York", with indistinct cds at lower left (franking mostly was on reverse, mounted on paper with notation "Anna Jay- from her affectionate Father, John Jay, Jay Homestead, Aug 3d, 1861" in the hand of John Jay, F.-V.F.
Estimate    $200 - 300.

John Jay was an American lawyer and United States Minister to Austria-Hungary between 1869-1875. He was the son of William Jay and grandson of Chief Justice John Jay of the United States Supreme Court. Jay was pro-active in the anti-slavery movement.
