Hawaii, 1866, 5¢ blue, tied by three-ring with center dot (Gregory ring3-25) cancel on 1866 cover from the Merriam commercial correspondence to Springfield Mass., bold strike of red "Honolulu, U.S. Postage Paid, Aug 25" cds (HON US34), carried by American Bark D.C. Murray from Honolulu Aug. 25th to San Francisco arriving Sep. 14th, bold "San Francisco Cal, Sep 15" double-circle datestamp for overland mail, bearing 2¢ black (73) and 3¢ rose (65), each cancelled by San Francisco cogwheel fancy cancel; trivial stamp flaws, Very Fine and choice.

Aug 9/98" and reads "…Cannot stay till flag is raised on Friday - Sail tomorrow - Enclosed set of stamps…", Very Fine and choice.
