'City' registry label FX-NY1b(unlisted) affixed; small flaws, F.-V.F., an exceptionally rare transit use.

Netherlands East Indies, 1844 Batavia, East Indies to Marseilles, France per ship "Globe", folded letter endorsed "per Le Globe" with red "Ourte Mer, 15 Fevr, 45" cds and "22" due rating, reverse with French transit and receiving backstamp, Very Fine, the Globe, a whaling ship, in 1824 suffered a mutiny and the incident was widely published which influenced writers such as Herman Melville and James Michener.
