Confederacy, Helena, Ark, May 6, 1861, circular date stamp tying U.S. 1857, 3¢ dull red on cover to Newark, O., with original enclosure datelined "La Grange, May 6th/61" with interesting contents regarding difficulty of getting mail through and stopping boats on the Mississippi (C.S.A. certificate with no opinion as to day date), F.-V.F., a early independent state usage which in all likelihood is the First Day of Arkansas Secession; with 1983 P.F. & 1998 C.S.A. certificates.

Confederacy, Saint Augustine Fl., Jan 25, cds and matching circular grid cancel ties U.S. 3¢ dull red (26) on light buff cover with printed "Florida House, St. Augustine, East Florida" large oval corner card to Stockbridge N.Y.; reduced at right slightly affecting 3¢, bottom corner nick, Fine and scarce Florida Independent State advertising use.
